CHERYL WEAVER

TEACHER

Cheryl Weaver’s yoga journey began and intensified as she sought to alleviate physical pain and anxiety. She attended Yoga Faith instructor training to deepen her personal practice, but through the process realized how much she wanted to share the blessing of therapeutic healing she received with others.

Cheryl, grew up in Southern California and arrived in Searcy by way of Harding University, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Education. She met and married her husband of over 25 years there and they have three adult children.

A professional portrait photographer who previously owned a studio, she loved being able to create images that allowed her subjects to see themselves as the true, beautiful individuals they were. This is the same approach she takes to instructing yoga – encouraging her students to experience love for themselves and others as they gain deeper revelation of how much the creator of the universe loves them. Her core conviction is that knowing GOD’s love for his people, through Jesus, changes them.

Music has always been a big part of her life. It moves her physically, emotionally and spiritually, and she incorporates it accordingly in her yoga practices. Like the worship she leads through music at her church, the playlists for her restorative classes are intentional – chosen not only to add to the class experience, but also to help restore one’s being as much as the movement and yoga asanas themselves.

Cheryl’s wanderlust leads her on many spontaneous adventures, often involving roller coasters, cliffs, ziplines or airplanes. She hopes to skydive in the near future. She is also discovering a love of being still and recognizing the beauty all around us that can easily go unnoticed when we’re hurrying through life. Her favorite yoga asana is vriksasana, or tree pose. Every time she practices this asana she is reminded of the importance of grounding and balance as she extends her reach.

Cheryl is a 200-Hour Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200) and is certified in Trauma Sensitive Yoga by Yoga Alliance. She serves as an ambassador for the yoga school she attended, YogaFaith.

Ultimately, Cheryl’s motto is this: Jesus First. Yoga Second.
